In the old yards like this (9 Voikova street) you can really feel the spirit of the old Yalta despite the modern elements. The picturesque building on the right of this photo has a great history. In 1900 the famous Russian author M.Gorky lived here. Also many famous people visited it including world known dramatist and writer Anton Chekhov, Russian opera singer Feodor Chaliapin (the possessor of a deep and expressive bass voice), Russian composer, pianist and conductor Sergei Rachmaninoff and others.
